Daihatsu Rocky and 1000 cc turbo engine

Daihatsu Rocky which was officially launched in Japan is in the spotlight these days. The mini SUV will reportedly be released to the markets of developing countries, including Indonesia.

"To this day I do not know whether Rocky has entered or not. I also do not know when it will be launched in Indonesia," said Astra Daihatsu Motors Marketing Director Amelia Tjandra in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 7, 2019.

But Amel, his nickname, did not dismiss that Daihatsu Indonesia was indeed studying a 1000 cc turbo engine. Yes, as is known Daihatsu Rocky also uses machines with similar specifications.

We have done a lot of studies. Including a 1,000 cc turbo engine owned by Daihatsu Tanto. That's part of the study, "he said.

The 1000.cc turbo engine is being studied whether it is suitable for road contours in Indonesia or not. Because, he said, road conditions in Indonesia are different from in Japan. As for the preliminary results of the study, recruiting Amel had no problem.

It turned out that the 1000 cc turbo engine compared to other brands that we compared, was not inferior. "Cenderun is even more suitable for Indonesian road conditions," he said.

Even so, Amel does not want to reveal with certainty whether the 1,000 cc turbo engine that was tested will be pinned on the latest Daihatsu Rocky or other models currently available in Indonesia. You name it, Daihatsu Ayla, Daihatsu Xenia, or Daihatsu Sigra.
